Fowler, Robertson Lead Rams Past Law
Ryan Fowler pitched a complete game and Tyler Robertson knocked in
both runs with a clutch single for the Rams (2-0). Cheshire played their
second straight errorless game.  Fowler struck out 6 Lawmen including
three in a row after loading the bases in the fourth.  He allowed five hits
and induced a groundout to short to end the game with the tying run at
third.  Other hits for the Rams were by Matt Croteau, Max Slade, Dan
Flynn, and Dom Severino.  Cheshire will travel to East Haven Tuesday to
make up the rainout from last Friday.  The game will be at 4:00 at the
High School on Rt. 80.

Rams Battle Back to Beat Hand 12-7
The Cheshire Rams spotted Hand a 4-0 lead in the first, but came roaring back to
pound the Tigers 12-7. With the Rams down 7-2 in the 5th, the bats exploded for a
7 run inning. A three run double by Dan Manke (3 for 4, 4 RBI) stretched the lead to
12-7 in the 6th. Ryan Rougeot picked up the win in relief of Ryan Fowler.  Max
Slade picked up the save and also added an RBI single and an RBI triple.. Brian
O'Reilly knocked in three runs for Cheshire. Sophomore Joe Kelly came up to
pinch hit in the big 5th inning rally with the bases loaded and drilled a bases
clearing double. Mike Severino had two hits and a walk for the Rams and John
Kubilus, Dan Flynn, and Connor David also had doubles. Dom Severino had an
RBI single and Mike Gargiulo had two singles.  The Rams will try to make it two in
a row when they visit East Haven  on Friday

Kubilus,Rams Outslug East Haven 14-12
John Kubilus lined a double to the gap in right center to score Dan Flynn and
pinch-runner David Wright in the top of the 7th to give the Rams their third straight
win at EHHS.  After East Haven scored four runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the
game at 12, Max Slade came in and shut down the rally.  In the top of the 7th, Flynn
led off with a double to deep center.  Connor David then singled sharply to right,
advancing Flynn to third.  After a groundout moved Wright to second, Kubilus lined
his two run double to give the Rams the two run cushion.  Slade made the lead
stand up, stranding the tying runs on base by striking out Vin Guglietti to end the
game.  Guglietti had a single, double, and triple in the game so far but proved no
match for the fastball-slider combination from the Cheshire Ace.  The Rams banged
out 17 hits with Dan Manke, Flynn, Slade, David, and Tyler Robertson picking up two
hits apiece.  Kubilus was the hitting star in this one, going 3-4 with 4 RBI and 3
stolen bases.  Cheshire (3-0) will host Hamden (3-0) on Wednesday at 3:45.

Rams Play Longball, Pound Hamden 16-7 to Move to 4-0
David, Severino, Flynn all Homer in Victory
The Cheshire Rams continue to hit up and down the lineup.  Wednesday, the 3, 4, and 5 hitters all went deep as
the Rams jumped out to a 13-0 lead en route to a 16-7 win at Burt Leventhal Field.  Ryan Rougeot pitched four
scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the season.  Cheshire jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning.
After back-to-back walks to Dan Manke and Max Slade, Dan Flynn singled up the middle to score Manke.  After a
Connor David walk, Dom Severino drilled a 2-run single to make it 3-0.  After a john Kubilus single loaded the
bases, Matt Croteau drilled a 2-run single and the rout was on.  In the second, David led off and drilled a high
fastball over the right field fence for his 1st career home run.  Junior Dom Severino then hit the next pitch halfway
up the tree line in left for his 1st career home run.  In the 3rd inning, Senior Dan Flynn drilled one into the trees
over the 365 sign in left center for his first home run of the season and second of his career, making it 10-0.  The
Rams collected 18 hits in the game.  Matt Croteau went 3-3 with 2 RBI.  Severino went 2-2 with 3 RBI and Flynn
2-4 with 2 RBI.  Cheshire will try to make it 5 in a row on Friday when they host Xavier, weather permitting.

David Homers Again, Amity on Monday
The Cheshire High Baseball team improved to 5-0 Friday
with a 5-0 win over Xavier.  Dom Severino went the distance,
throwing a 2-hit shutout.  Severino struck out 5 and walked 2
and was in total control the entire game.  Catcher Connor
David hit his second home run in the last two games,
launching a "no-doubter" over the right field fence.  Dan
Manke made two exceptional catches in center field to rob
extra bases.  Manke also went 2-4 at the plate with a double
and 3 RBI for the Rams (5-0)  Max Slade had two hits and a
stolen base.  John Kubilus and Dan Flynn each chipped in

    Amity Takes Round 1
In a battle of two 5-0 teams in the Housatonic Division of the SCC, pitching and
base running won out in this one.  It was billed as a battle of Cheshire's powerful
bats vs the highly tauted pitching staff of the Spartans.  In the end, it was the
small-ball style of Amity, scoring 4 runs in the second inning, and holding on for a
7-4 win at Janenda Field in Woodbridge.  The Rams jumped out first off Amity
starter Joe Ciancola.  Max Slade singled, stole second, and scored on a Dan
Flynn RBI single.  Flynn would then be called out stealing on a questionable
phantom tag call.  Connor David then singled sharply to left center, but was
stranded.  Amity tied the game in the second on a Mark Esposito sacrifice fly.
Amity Ace Lou Concato replaced Ciancola in the second inning and quieted the
Ram offense.  In the Spartan third, a leadoff double, four singles, and four stolen
bases plated four runs putting Amity up 5-1.  The Rams would not roll over
however.  Dan Manke laced a one out triple in the fifth.  Slade drove him in with a
double.  A Flynn single sent Slade to third, and he scored on a Dom Severino
sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 5-3.  Amity would scratch out a run in the 5th and
another in the 6th to secure the lead and the win.  Cheshire would add a run in the
6th to provide the final score of 7-4.  Amity is now 6-0 while the Rams fall to 5-1.
Shelton will visit Burt Leventhal field for a 3:45 start on Wednesday.   The rematch
with Amity will be on Wednesday, May 5 in Cheshire at 4:00.

homer to stretch a 7-3 lead to 10-3 in the sixth.  Cheshire would then put it away with
a 6 run seventh inning.  Greg Leonetti knocked in three runs for the Rams with a two
run single in the second and a bases loaded walk in the seventh.  Connor David,
Brian O'Reilly, and Slade also knocked in two runs each in this one with single RBI's
for Mike Severino, David Wright, and Dan Manke (2 hits).  The Rams will host East
Haven on Monday at 4:00.

Prep Crashes Senior Day Party 7-5
The Cheshire Baseball Family recognized their Seniors
before the game Friday:  Dan Manke, Dan Flynn, John
Kubilus, Brian O'Reilly, Brian Cantore, Chris Sacco, Mike
Severino, and Mike Gargiulo played their last regular
season home game before a big crowd at Cheshire High.
The game, however, did not go as planned, falling to
Fairfield Prep 7-5. The Rams left 13 men on base in this
one. Connor David and Dan Flynn each had two hits and
an RBI. Dom Severino hit his 5th homer. Chris Sacco
and Mike Gargiulo had big pinch hits to keep a seventh
inning rally alive. Greg Leonetti played a excellent game
at SS, filling in for Max Slade.  Cheshire will finish up the
regular season next week with three road games at Law
(Monday),  Xavier (Wednesday) and under the lights at
Hamden on Friday.  The Rams have already qualified for
the CIAC LL State Tournament, but will need a couple of
wins next week to get into the very competitive SCC
Tournament.  The SCC takes the four division winners
and the next four best SCC records in division and
crossover games.

Ram's Line Drives Find Falcon Gloves
Cheshire Falls to Xavier 4-2
Four Xavier pitchers held Cheshire's powerful
offense to 6 hits today at Palmer Field.  The
Rams left eight runners on base in this one,
hitting a number of hard line drives right at the
Falcon fielders.  A diving stab by second
baseman Greg Marino with the bases loaded off
the bat of Connor David was particularly
frustrating for Cheshire (11-8).  Dan Manke and
Dan Flynn each had two hits for the Rams and
David had a two run single.  The only other hit
was an infield single by Greg Leonetti in the fifth.
Dom Severino pitched very well for Cheshire,
allowing only 3 earned runs going 6 innings.
Severino also drew three walks at the plate.
Cheshire will finish the regular season on Friday
night in Hamden.  The game will start at 7:30.
Cheshire has already qualified for the State LL
Tourney.  Their fate in the SCC draw will depend
on the North Haven-East Haven game to be
played tomorrow (Thursday).  If East Haven wins,
the Rams will capture the final spot in the SCC
Tournament and will play at 4:00 next Tuesday in
West Haven.  If North Haven wins, the Rams will
be out of the SCC draw and will have a week to
get healthy and arrange their pitching for the
States.
