RUN SINGLE.ADAM RIDER  CHIPPED IN WITH 2 HITS  AND ALSO SCORED
TWICE.
MATT  CROTEAU, LOGAN DENNIN, AND  CATE  COMBINED  ON A  2 HIT
SHUTOUT.  

THE  CHARGERS , NOW  5-1, RETURN TO ACTION  IN WEEKEND  
DOUBLEHEADERS  ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT EAST SHORE FIELD  IN
NEW HAVEN.
Chargers Continue to Roll
The  Connecticut  Chargers  won 3 of 4  games this weekend  in East  Shore Fall  League play  in New Haven.

An  8 run  first inning  explosion helped the Chargers  score  a  12-4   win over the  Southern Connecticut Bees in the  first
game of a  doubleheader.  Ryan Thayer doubled in  a pair of runs  to highlight the inning. Thayer  added  a double later in
the game and also scored  3  runs.
Three other  Chargers,  Logan Dennin,  Adam Rider, and Jeff  Cate  each  drove in two runs . Matt Croteau added  two
singles and a double as the Chargers piled up 12 hits. Croteau earned the decision, with relief help from  Jeff Cate who
struck out 4 over  the  final two innings.

The Chargers  rallied  from a  6-0  1st inning  deficit  with  a  late rally but dropped a  10-8 decision  to the Bees  in Game  2
of the  doubleheader.  Matt  Croteau  continued  his  hot hitting with a   triple and double  and scored  3 runs. Jeff Cate  and  
Ryan Fowler drove in two runs apiece for the Chargers  who scored  twice in the 7th, but left the bases  loaded  to fall short.  


On Sunday Ryan Fowler fired a one hitter and struck out 14 as  the  Connecticut  Chargers blanked the  Branford Sting  5-0.
Fowler  was in complete control from the start  mixing an explosive fastball with his off-speed pitches in a  dominating  effort.
Adam Rider  slammed  a  run scoring  double and  also singled,  while Jason Holcomb   added an RBI triple for the
winners.

In Game  2 on Sunday, the Chargers upped their overall record  to 8-2  for the fall, scoring 3  first inning runs and downing
the Connecticut  Angels  5-3.  Jimmy Davitt  piched the  first 4 innings striking out  5  to earn the victory . Jason Holcomb
earned the save , allowing only one earned run over the final 3 innings.  Holcomb  singled,  walked and  scored twice, while
Jeff  Cate  who reached base  on 6 consecutive at bats on the day  added  an rbi single.  The Chargers  turned a  pair of  
double plays  in the game  and played strong  defense  all day with only  one error in the  two games.

The Chargers return to action Wednesday  night with an  8:00  game against Branford  at  East Shore Field  in New Haven.
Chargers 9 Branford Sting 1
The  Connecticut  Chargers  scored  7  runs in the first two innings  on
their way to a  9-1  win over the  Branford  Sting  Wednesday night in New
Haven.
Jason  Holcomb and  Kevin Hall both singled in the  first inning. Dom
Severino then lined  a triple off the left  field fence , scoring both runners.
The Chargers  tacked on 5 runs  in the  2nd inning. Matt Croteau singled,  
Jimmy Davitt  reached on an infield  error  and both came around to score  
on Jeff Cate's  double. Mark  Boland  and  Christian  Baglini   followed with
run scoring two base hits, and the final run of the  inning  scored  on Kevin
 Hall's second hit of the night.
The  final two Charger runs on the night  came in the 6th  inning.  Adam
Rider's  single,sandwiched around walks  to  Severino and Croteau  
loaded the bases.   Davitt   followed with a  sacrifice fly, and  Logan
Dennin  drove in the game's final run with  a line single to right.

The  Chargers  received  strong pitching once again.
Croteau  pitched the  first 4 innings, scattering  5 hits and allowing only
one  unearned  run.  
Severino fired two scoreless  innings  in relief ,  striking out 4.

The Chargers, now  9-2  on the fall season,  play in the(U-19 )War at The
Shore Tournament this weekend, beginning  with a  Saturday  morning
doubleheader  at Leary Park  in Waterford.

Triple Crown  Columbus  Day  Classic
The  Connecticut  Chargers  swept a   pair of  pool  play   games at French Park in Seymour on Saturday .
The Chargers shut out   Team Connecticut  10-0  behind  outstanding pitching by Jimmy Davitt
who fired a   no-hitter , striking out  8, while  in complete control  throughout the game. Davitt  used his
good  fastball and  very effective off-speed pitches to keep  the  opposing  hitters off-balance  throughout
the game.
Jeff   Cate   doubled  and  scored  3 runs, leadoff man  Christian Baglini walked twice singled and also
scored  3 runs  while   Anthony DeCaprio added  a  run scoring triple.

The  Chargers  rallied   for  a   6-3 victory  over the  Connecticut Capitals in the second  game  as  Jeff   
Cate  and  Dominic Severino   combined  on a 5 hitter.
Cate who pitched the  first 5 innings,  earned the decision  with relief help from Severino, who struck out  4  
of the  final  6  batters  he faced  to earn the save.
The Chargers  scored twice in the  6th  and  7th  innings  after trailing  3-2  after  5 innings.
Walks to Ryan Thayer and  Severino got the 6th inning rally started. Kevin Hall  then dropped  down a bunt
which he beat out to load the bases. Adam Rider followed with a hard grounder to short and an overthrow  
to the plate allowed  two runs to  score.
The Chargers   added a pair of insurance runs in the 7th as Jimmy Davitt  walked, stole second and
scored on Ryan Thayer's single to center.
After Thayer  was  caught stealing, Severino closed out the scoring with his 5th home run of the fall -an
opposite field shot over the right field fence.
Chargers  capture Triple Crown -Columbus Day  Classic
The  Connecticut  Chargers  completed  a  perfect  4-0  weekend, winning  a  pair of  games  to capture
the
Triple Crown Tournament  Title in  North Branford.
In the  semifinals , the  Chargers  scored  8 runs in the final 3 innings  and defeated the Connecticut
Tides 8-1.
Trailing  1-0 in the  4th, Dom Severino cracked a double over  the center fielder's head, Kevin Hall   
followed with  a  base hit to left  and  Logan  Dennin walked to load  the bases. Matt  Croteau then lined
a double down the  left field line driving in  two runs.
Croteau also  played  a strong game defensively at first  base, turning  a third inning line drive down the
first base line into  an unassisted double play ( just  missing a  triple play ) by a  step after  throwing  to
second.
Winning  pitcher  Ryan Fowler  allowed  only  two hits  and  one unearned run  over the  first 4 innings  to
earn the decision.
In the  championship game the  Chargers erupted  for  8  runs  in the final 2 innings  and scored  a  10-2
 victory  over
Grand Slam Baseball  of  Lakeville (Ma.) .
The Chargers  opened  the scoring in the 1st inning -Ryan Thayer  beat out an infield  hit, Dom Severino
walked and both runners  scored as Matt  Croteau doubled to the gap in left-center.
After  the game was tied at 2-2  after  4 innings,  the Chargers  broke it open with  a 5 run 5th inning.
Logan Dennin  singled up the middle, Mark Boland then laid  down a sacrifice bunt and reached safely  
on a high throw to 1st.  Christian Baglini followed  with another  excellent bunt which he legged into a  
base hit, loading the bases.
Kevin Hall then  slammed a  long, high drive to deep center -which caromed off the fence, missing a
grand slam by about 2  feet. However  the runners  played it safe and Hall  was held to a long single,
driving in the  go ahead run .
Thayer  followed  with a  line single ,driving in the  2nd run and Severino followed with another  base hit
driving in the third run of the inning. Adam Rider  then  belted  a 2 run double  to right center and the
Chargers lead  was extended to  7-2.
They added  3 insurance runs in the  6th  as  Boland  singled  over the shortstop, and advanced  on a  
wild pitch. Baglini  walked  and  another run scored on a   double steal. Croteau was   hit by a pitch  with
the bases  loaded  and  Rider walked to force in the final runs.
Jimmy  Davitt  pitched the  first 4 innings allowing 2 runs  on just 2  hits and  Severino earned the
decision  with  two  hitless  innings in relief.
The Chargers   pitching ( Davitt, Fowler, Cate Croteau and Severino )  was dominating  throughout  the
tournament  ( allowing only 10 hits  and  5 earned runs in 4 games, with 32 strikeouts  and  a 1.87  
E.R.A.)
Now  20-4  on the fall  season, the Chargers return to New haven  Fall league Play  with a  6:00  game
Wednesday  at East Shore  Park, and doubleheaders  on Saturday and  Sunday.
CHARGERS  SWEEP 3 IN EAST SHORE TRAVEL LEAGUE
The  Connecticut  Chargers  continued to capitalize on  excellent pitching  as they swept  three  
games in East  Shore  League  play  last week.
The  Charger  pitching staff  allowed  only   1   run  in the three  games  and have been just  as stingy  
in their  last 9 games - allowing  only  9   runs  for a team   E.R.A.  of  1.09  over that  span.
Christian Baglini, Matt Croteau and  Logan Dennin combined
on  a  3 hitter  as the Chargers  crushed the  Connecticut  Angels  13-1  in New  Haven. Jeff  Cate  
doubled in two runs, and  Kevin  Hall added  2 hits, including a triple, and scored 2 runs.
The  strong pitching  continued  on Sunday  afternoon  at Branford High school  as the  Chargers  
scored  a  pair of shutout  victories  over the Branford  Sting.
Jeff  Cate  recorded  12  ground ball outs and needed  only  84  pitches  as he tossed  a complete
game 2 hitter  as the Chargers  took the opener  6-0.
The Chargers  score twice in the  2nd inning  as  Anthony DeCaprio  and Adam Rider singled. Logan
Dennin knocked in the first run of the game with a  line drive single to left  center. Cate   followed with
a  sacrifice fly  to make it  2-0.
Dennin  doubled in the 4th  and scored on Cate's single to right  to make it  3-0.
The Chargers scored two more  runs  in the  5th  inning as Christian Baglini  beat out an infield single
and advanced to second on a throwing error. Baglini  then stole third and scored on Kevin Hall's
single to left. DeCaprio drove  in Hall  with an infield grounder  to make it  5-0.
Hall  added  an rbi single in the  6th  to close out the scoring.
Ryan  Fowler fired  a  gem  in Game  2, as he pitched   5  perfect  innings, striking out  7, as the
Chargers scored  a  5-0   victory.
Fowler  set the tone  by striking  out the side in the  first inning and was in complete  control the rest of
the way.
Dominic Severino pitched  the final two innings in relief, yielding only one hit,which came with  two
outs in the  7th  inning.
The  Chargers  scored  3 runs  in the second as  Severino led off with a double over the left fielder's
head
and scored  on Kevin  Hall's  rbi single. Jimmy  Davitt followed  with a double to score  Hall  and
scored  the final run of the frame  on a  Branford fielding error.
The Chargers  closed out the scoring with 2 runs in the 6th. Ryan Thayer  led off with a  single, and
came all the way  around to score  as  Severino ripped  a  double into the left field corner. Logan
Dennin  drove in the final  run with  single to right center.
In addition to the  outstanding pitching, the Chargers  defense also turned in a  strong effort, playing
errorless ball in the  doubleheader.
The  Chargers  now  23-4  on the fall season  return to action  Wednesday  at 6:00  at East Shore  
Park  in New Haven.
Chargers Earn Top Seed in East  Shore  Travel League

The Connecticut  Chargers swept a  doubleheader  to earn the   top seed   heading into the   playoffs  of
the  East  Shore    ( U-18 ) Travel  League.
In game  1 the Chargers  scored  a  13-3   victory over the  Connecticut   Dolphins. Adam Rider  
slammed a  bases  loaded   double, driving in 3 runs and also  walked twice   and scored  3 times.
Mike Severino  added  two hits  and also scored two  runs to back the  pitching of  Jeff  Cate, who pitched
 3 scoreless  innings of relief  to earn the decision.
In game  2   Ryan Fowler   pitched  6   shutout  innings, striking  out  11  as the Chargers blanked  the  
Dolphins  6-0. Jimmy   Davitt   doubled and singled  and scored twice, while  Ryan Thayer  added  two
hits  and a sacrifice fly  and drove  in a  pair of runs.
The  Chargers, now  28-4  on the fallseason, open the  league playoffs   on Saturday  afternoon  at 12:00
 at East Shore Park  in New Haven.
CHARGERS SWEEP 3 STRAIGHT - WIN PLAYOFF TITLE
-EAST SHORE TRAVEL LEAGUE

The Connecticut Chargers swept three straight games to capture the East Shore League Playoff Title,
defeating the Southern Connecticut Bees 4-3 in the championship game in cold and windy New
Haven. The Chargers scored 1st in the opening inning as Christian Baglini singled, stole second and
scored on a two out line single to center by Dominic Severino. After the Bees evened the game at 1-1,
the Chargers scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning as Baglini walked, Ryan Thayer singled
to left, Severino reached on an infield error and Kevin Hall ripped a two strike pitch into center field
scoring a pair of runs to make it 3-1. The Bees capitalized on a very questionable balk call to score
twice and tie the game at 3-3 after 5 innings. Then in the bottom of the 7th Jeff Cate led off with and
infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the shortstop. Baglini, the team's best
bunter laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt and when the Bees pitcher overthrew first base, Cate scored
and the Chargers had walked off with the Playoff title. Ryan Fowler pitched the first 5 innings,
scattering 5 hits and allowing only 2 earned runs while striking out 6. Dominic Severino came on in
relief and fired two hitless innings, striking out 6 with a live fastball, to earn the decision.

In earlier playoff action the Chargers downed the Connecticut Angels 10-2 as Jimmy Davitt paced the
offense with a triple , two singles and two runs scored. Adam Rider added a single and double, and
winning pitcher Matt Croteau helped his own cause with two hits and two runs scored.

The Chargers also downed the Southern Connecicut Bees 10-1 in the winners bracket final behind
the strong pitching of Jimmy Davitt, who allowed only 3 hits and struck out 6, while not walking a
batter. The Chargers pounded out 14 hits, including 6 doubles in the game. Ryan Thayer doubled
twice and drove in a pair of runs. Logan Dennin singled and doubled and also drove in two runs.
Christian Baglini added two hits and two runs scored, while Adam Rider and Jeff Cate chipped in with
two hits each. The Chargers finished the season with a 17 game win streak, as they compiled an
oustanding 31-4 record on the fall season.
