                                    2009 Final Four

Game 1 Thursday March 5  6:00 PM at CHS Main Gym
                South Carolina(1E) 8-1 vs Florida(3E) 7-2
These two teams were battling for the division lead for most of the year.  Carolina is led by leading
scorer Max Slade(19/gm) and strong play from Luke Scinto(13/gm).  Strong inside play from Paul
Tuscano and McKenzie DeMac have made them the team to beat all year.  It won't be easy against the
Gators, who are led by the leagues premier big man Jason Rotell(16.5/gm)  Rotell has been tough to
stop, scoring a lot of his points on offensive rebounds and finishing on the fast break.  He gets up and
down the court and can shoot it as well.  Tucker Bartone, Michael Jordan, and Torrey Martone add
shooting and rebounding help.  This will be a good matchup.  Both teams like to get up and down the
court.  South Carolina won the regular season meeting 81-30 in week 7, however Florida was without
Rotell and Jordan.  They may be looking for a little revenge with a full squad.

Game 2 Thursday March 5 7:30 PM at CHS Main Gym
                       Clemson(1E) 8-1 vs Memphis(4E) 7-2
In game two we have a matchup between the two hottest teams in the league.  Clemson has won 6 in a
row while Memphis has captured their last 5 games.  Clemson has done their damage with great
defense.  Guards Nick Guarino and Danny Harris have been able to turn teams over frequently with
heavy pressure on the opposing ball handlers.  When they aren't getting steals, Dan Flynn, Chris
Sacco, and Kyle Nelson have been cleaning up on the defensive boards and picking off entry passes,
transitioning to fast break points for the guards.  Flynn is the leading scorer for Clemson averaging 18 a
game.  He gets his points offensive rebounds, power drives to the hoop and is one of the best three
point shooters in the league.  Guarino is also a top shooter.  When he is on, and he has been lately, he
can create runs with his defense and streak shooting.  He is averaging 11 a game but is capable of 20
or more at any time.  Harris at the point and Sacco and Nelson on the boards have made this one of the
favorites all year.  Memphis is on a roll.  After back to back losses to top ranked South Carolina and a
very strong Boise St. team back in January, they have reeled off 5 straight including a solid win over
Florida.  Senior Patrick Herlihy has been one of the most consistent players in the league, averaging 15
a game and is also been very strong on the boards.  He is supported by a solid backcourt of Nick
Cesca(11/gm) and Todd Heritage(10/gm).  Dan Barnes and Abe Siliman have stepped up their scoring
in the playoffs.  This should be a solid matchup of four of the quicker guards in the league.  It may come
down to who can control the inside game.  This "Battle of the Tigers" will produce a winning team that will
have a very good chance of taking the crown on Saturday
